I moved to the Lake Charles area some time ago and have been planning to start-up a tank sometime later 2014. Petco and Petsmart are not my first choices for stocking my tank. There are lots of online vendors to choose from but I like the experience of choosing tank mates at a fish store and asking questions. My family loves The Fish Gallery in Houston but a 5 hour round trip just isn't something I can do often. The place is worth the wait and the drive but the fish would be using a bubbler for 2 1/2 hours and they'd need to be ready for travel when we arrive. The alternative I'm investigating is a place I visited this last weekend in Lafayette. Rather than 2 1/2 hours, it's half that time. I feel like I could feasibly find time to get to know the vendor, plan a tank, and bring the fish home at my own pace without jeopardizing the fish and probably being able to select fish rather than just order them. Has anyone been to Tropical Fish Bowl in Lafayette, LA? Are they a pretty good company with good advice for planning a tank? Not that I can't get it here but a conversation can go much smoother in person than on a forum. I'm interested to find out more about them from their customers.
