I am running into sort of a problem.....well honestly thiere isnt much i can do, so i guess this is kind of a lesson to be learned for me and a lesson to be learned for anyone that reads this thread. Do not always trust you local fish stor keepers, they may say they are there to give you good advice but in the long run they are there to make money and will do what it takes to see fish. I recently bought a pair of paradise fish from my LFS and well when i did they told me that they would gtet along will in my 50 gallon....well thefought until they killed eachother, i tried seperating them as soon as i noticed but the damage was too severe, I also bought from them on that same day two rainbow sharks. The LFS again said that they would have no problem liveing together im my tank well it appears that the one slightly larger Rainbow Shark is chasing and harrassing the other one to the point of exaustion....I guess i am going to have to try and seperate them but i have no where to put him, my other two tanks have non-aggressive fish and I am not really sure what to do. The moral of this situation is allthough many fish store owners may want to give you good advice on your fish keeping you probibly should do extensive research on every fish you plan on buying before you buy any fish and add them to your tank, not only to save you money and frustration, but also for the fish's health because when it comes down to it we are there caretakers and we are the ones they depend on.

In general the best strategy is to spend enough time on this site and others like it til you learn enough to know more than any fish store employee. Not to discredit the owners and true enthusiasts that work there, but many are just part time employees parroting something they may have heard but don't know for sure. Sounds like you figured that out the hard way, which sucks, but at least you know now going forward.

unfortunately this happens to alot of us.
and i personally would do ALOT of research before buying any fish since lfs never really know what theyre talking about...
i just ran into problems by putting 3 jags i caught into my tank.
it became a warzone with 3 jags occupying one area of the tank each and attacking anything and everything that passed them....
needless to say,i just dumped them into the pond.
