Fish Tank Background

So I was thinking... what kind of background should I get for my new 55?

I want to go for the natural look (flourite subsrtate, rocks, driftwood, live plants) and I'm going to put my silver aro in it.

What kind of background do you think would look nice? Or maybe no background at all? The Tank is against a wall btw.

Forget the background and get the aro a bigger tank he wont last long in there....

If you're too lazy or cheap you could always do what I did. A black garbage bag cut to fit the back. I personally like the black background.

i challenge anyone to find one of those laminated tank backings that look good! they are always (without exception) tacky. i like to paint my tanks black and light them from the front

I have to agree your arowana will out grow it try and trade it for a 90 gal and paint(side's, back, bottom ) black or blue.. go bare bottom your tank will be more healther and cleaner looking too(provided you have an excellent filter with enough biomass) .. the black color will make your fish more viberant aswell check out this pic ( he is a member of the site and my insperation for tank decor I love this guy's tank's)

as everyone has said get a bigger tank for your aro it will grow out, its much better to have a bigger tank than transfering the fish, really cool thank setup, black brings out a lot of contrast to your fish, or try dark blue color if your aro is red

bro the pic belong's to KOJI a global moderator.. he is my hero when it come's to bare bottom tank's his fish are second to none and are possible the nicest of anyone on this site even the trust mite not hold a candle to him ( no disrespect to you trust) he (koji) from the look's of it has a gigas too!!... a baby one at that...
