Fish tank cleaning

[Cichlid Me Up]

i want to clean my fishtank extremely well since my dumb water hose thing whatever its called wont pick up my cichlids giant crap so i was wondering is there anyway i can take them out and put them in a 10g for like 30mins?

i have
1 Jack Dempsey 6inch
1 Jack Dempsey 2 inch
Red tailed Black Shark 4in
Convict 4 inch

yeah you can take them out, but i would just leave them due to stress, and besides they won't bite so no need to worry. do no more than a 70% water change, i see your 2" jd is still smalll and might not be able to tolerate large portions of wc. so becareful

just be careful and don't make the switches too back to back. wait a bit to change them from tank to tank as it can be really stressful

why bother? just use a better siphon, if your using something like a python it should have no trouble sucking out all the poo, moving the fish just seems like way to much of a bother and stressful to the fish, i wouldnt make things more complicated then they have to be or you will get really tired of water changes real quick, just siphon what you can and like said dont do more than 70% wc and make sure water going back in is same temp or a degree or two cooler

are these all in the 29g in your signature? if so then you are really over due for a tank upgrade bigtime

noooo i havent put this tank in my sig my 29 has my fry from firemouth and convicts but yeah i was just gonna use like a cup or something cause the siphon just isnt strong enough

what kind of siphon do you use? i have some pretty big poopers and my siphon has no problem getting the poo (though i do have to hold it right over it) if its the regular hose kind you just empty into a bucket then maybe try raising the bucket onto a chair or something to see if that helps?

Go to LFS. Buy KleenSweep for $8 if you need a better syphon/daily cleaner. Hooks up to your air pump and takes any and all poop out of there without issue. That way you can completly clean the tank and still have all your water in there and then do a normal water change so as to not stress the fish.
