Here is the problem at hand.. my tank (240 gallon) is in my house and everyone in the house doesn't like it there, so i've been told i can move it into the garage or move out of the house. My question is would it be ok to put the tank in my garage, which is fully insulated by the way, will there be any temperature problems? i live in fresno, ca and i dont think the temperature changes all that much. any response would be great.

I dont think youll have any Temp issues. Good Luck

He's right.. as long as the tank is being heated, the tank itself should heat the whole garage.. Just make sure there is no way for a draft at night to cause a major temprature swing (30-40 degrees)

Howdy,

Have a few of your buddies move in and vote again on the tank!

A large tank like your 240 would have to take a long time of continous cold weather for the temp to fluctuate where it would endanger your fishies. If you have smaller tanks in there, i.e. 40 gallon, then fluctuation would happen overnight, but at 240 gallons, you practically have to have a week of 50 degrees 24/7. Set your heater to 78, and you should be OK.

Make sure you don't have your car idleing next to the tank though.

Luckily no one parks in the garage, i'm thinking about taking to over and having it become my fish room. Buy a couch and a table and a TV and make it my second room....LOL... My uncle said he would pitch in and even buy a heater and thermostat for the garage. So i think things just might work out after all....
