Ive always wanted to add a turtle to my tank but i have no clue what turtles you can actually put in with your fish. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? Ihve a 180gallon tank with 8 discus(soon adding two more while they grow out, 1 tig, 1 fire eel, and 1 silver dat and 1 indo dat( soon adding a few more dats

iv had a soft shell in with my dats and arowana plus girrafe catfish for the last year and he about 14" long a big fella, he has never touched any of the other fish

they are very messy tho so plenty of filteration and water changes needed

well doyboy you had 1 amazing turtle if it hasent touched your fish (yet!). Honeslty it depends on species but most turtles once there about half the size of the discus or maybe a little bigger will take a bite into your fish ESPECIALLY soft shelled turtles as they are very aggressive to fish. If you vaulue your fish there is really only 2 species that come to mind when you talk about "fish safe" and that is mata matas and they will eat fish that can fit in there mouth and a fly river turtle which is the same way but it tends to be more of a grazer.

EDIT: also forgot to mention that doyboy is right, VERY messy eaters.
