ok i want to start a monster tank for stingrays (hopefully leopoldi) and peacock bass. now i was planning on building a plywood tank that would be 7 x 3.5 x 3.5
it would be by my math like 640g. in my mind it would be the perfect dimensions. now while wasting time today on craigslist i found a mint 500g acrylic tank that is 8 x 4 x 2. my question, should i "settle" for this tank or just build my dream tank? anyone gone through this before? i guess for rays, the larger footprint would be good but still. thanks for any advice.

Like my sig says. If it's worth doing, it's worth over doing. Go with the bigger tank.

Depends on the price of the 500 and how skilled you are to make a plywood tank happen.

I've you have never built anything other then legos. Shake your piggy bank a bit harder and get the prebuilt tank and save yourself some trouble.

If you have the skills and means then go as big as you can fit/afford with a custom built tank.

ok im no carpenter, but i think if i really take my time i can build a tank. how tough can it be?

Read about it in the DIY forums. Honestly, the 8x4 footprint is better for the rays. You're 3.5' height is not as important as the footprint. Whats the cost of the 8x4x2
