I have seen used tanks and equipment run from very cheap to almost the price of new so I can't really help you there but you might check both Ebay and the buy and sell forum here.
For your glass thickness try this link, http://saltaquarium.about.com/cs/aq...lcustomtank.htm , find the line that says Glass Thickness Calculator and click it, I found it in an earlier thread titled GLASS THICKNESS CALCULATIONS that you can access with the search button above. There is at least one other link there but this one is easier to use.
I hope this helps.

Used tank in good conditions usually go for a dollar a gallon depending on the socio econimic standing of your area

my friend sell me 6 ft by 2ft by 2 ft 10mm thick set with cabinate $500 what do you think,

another 1 as mention above $200 plus 12mm thick just tank.

which will you choose? i newbies seting tanks

The 10mm one is cheap for a cabinet tank but cannot rear big fishes like arowana all that as the glass is too thin... 1 swipe of the arowana tail and all the water will be on the floor liao, not to mention the glass as well. the 12mm one should be ok for monsterfishes but i think 15mm one better for 6x2x2 :D

wow aro can break 10 mm thick fish tank. just about think get from him. :WHOA:

but from chart 6FT by 2FT thickness from 9mm to 12mm

Yes we have problems with arowanas coming by and breaking our 10mm windows.... wakes you up if thay break the windows in the bedroom...... dang arowana gangs.....

Come on an arowana can break 10mm glass? I've had some and I've not found them to be as strong as my 20" pleco..... I hand move my big fish when I can.
