fish tankmate for my paddle tail newt

i have a paddle tail newt all by himself in a 15 gallon with about 5 inches of water (high, the entire tank is submerged) and two caves for land. It does have filtration and i often change the water. Can anybody recommend a good fish companion for him? i tried white clouds and he ate them lol

regular gold fish there cheap enough it wont matter if he east them

What temp is the tank. I am assuming an unheated tank. Try a stoneroller like the bluefin or even a couple sheeps head minnows, they will tolerate the small tank and shallow water, won't bother your newt and are to big to be eaten.

ive had two of these in a mixed tank, and they never showed the slightest aggression, one thing to watch tho, they're fantastic escape artists, and die very quickley out of water.......... i have learnt this to my cost
