Hey guys,
I run a live fish collection at UWSP (University of Wisconsin @Stevens Point). https://www.facebook.com/pages/UWSP-Live-HerpetologyIchthyology-Lab/196651933735925?ref=hl
My job is to display as much diversity on a family level as possible to the students here learning about fish. We are one of the premier natural resource and biology schools in the country, if not the world. Anything you give to us will literally assist across the country, as we are constantly sending our Natural Resource grads all over the place.
I run on very limited funding, and almost 100% of my funding goes to feeding the fish that we currently have. We are in the process of upgrading, just got a few huge tanks, and looking to get some more.
We will not have any money until June 1st - and then only $500 for the year, which basically covers food, with nothing for enrichment for the fish or acquiring new specimens for the collection.
We are in the process of upgrading some of our enclosures and need new fish to fill out old displays, and we need new equipment to get our new bigger displays for our monster fish running.
We specifically are looking for large heaters and large cannister filters.
Donations of food are always accepted, and if you have a large/oddball fish that you are looking to rehome, we would be more than happy (for the most part - mainly looking for small fish to hold/grow out till all displays are fully operational)
We are currently looking for:
Clown loaches
Wolf fish
Sturgeon
Sheepshead (FW)
American eel (just lost one, a volunteer left the lid of the tank open)
Bowfin
Burbot
Flathead Catfish
Jurneese Catfish or RTC or RTCxTSN Hybrid or TSN
Peacock Bass
Dorado
African Tiger (forksali)
South American Lungfish
Shortnose Gar
Fire eel
And let me know what you have!
We are always taking larger tanks as well.
We can drive a certain distance...make some sort of arrangements to meet up etc.
We are also capable of giving tax write offs for donations.
IF you are a vendor and capable of sending us a box with a good deal of these species, we would consider placing an order through you, be willing to promote you etc.
Thanks just for looking everyone, we really appreciate any help we can get.
