Recently i picked up a common Chinese Algae Eater (Gyrinocheilus aymonieri).

For some strange reason, i have grown close to it just overnight.

So, now that i have a 6"-7" Algae Eater in my tank, i was wondering what some good tankmates would be that will not 1) eat my Algae Eater, and 2) get bullied/picked on by the Algae Eater..?

Oh yea, tank is 72g. Slightly Brackish.

I was thinking maybe a single Puffer. My LFS has a puffer that will only get around 5"-6" (according to the manager, not sure of its name atm). Would the Algae Eater realise that the puffer is venomous and dangerous, and avoid it? How would the puffer get along with the Algae Eater?

Any input/suggestions welcome.

Hmmmm... i could have sworn i replied to this thread...

Anyway, i remember when i had my CAE in with my old Palembangs, my CAE would suck the slime coat off my Palembang puffer any chance it got basically...

So i would say depending on the type of puffer it is, there is a chance your CAE might try and suck the slime coat off it, or you may find the puffer won't take any crap and turn around to kill your CAE...

More than likely.
