My wife and I are expecting our first child in late November. Since we both love fish and MFK we were thinking about doing a fish themed baby room that would incorporate either a 29 or 55 gallon aquarium.

This will be the largest scale project I have taken on...but am very excited to do this.

Has anyone ever designed a fish style kids room? I am opened to any and all ideas. I am just now in the planning phases and would love tons of advice and input.

Or black if you can't find white.

In all seriousness though I'd go with a finding nemo style, much easier to find bedspreads etc with nemo on them then going for a FW theme.

A 180 w/ a jardini would also be nice touch to any room though. ;)

I agree with this being for real though a Finding Nemo room would be cool. Finding Dori comes out in 2015 just a heads up haha. Get a fish that lives along time and let it grow up with your child :)

Congrats! And my daughters fish tank is a feeder fish tank luckily she cant count yet :naughty:

That's a really awesome idea. As said before Nemo would be the easiest thing to find/decorate with but if your good at sewing or making your own stuff. I'm sure you could find the right material to make fish themed sheets etc which would give you more ideas on what kind of tank to setup.

Am interested in knowing how it turns out and congrats! I'm expecting a little girl in Sept so I know how excited you both must be.

Finding Nemo is definitely one of the themes we are considering. If we have a girl my wife is leaning toward a Little Mermaid theme.

The plan is to incorporate most likely a 55 gallon saltwater tank with some clowns, dwarf angelfish, and maybe some blue chromis....stocking list is still up in the air.

I am planning to make the entire room an under sea theme with fake rocks framing out the bookcases and the aquarium.... still so much to plan and do.

Thanks for all the responses!!

Remember foam is easy to carve and spray paint to make rocks and corals you can cut in half and use against the wall for a 3d look. They sell finding nemo decals, then i just painted the walls blue. You can use fishing line to hang plushes or nemo toys or sea theme ls items from te ceiling to make them look like theyre swimming.

I have 2 little ones and plan on doing beach theme with a nanacube as a night light. My wife likes the wall tanks with bettas but just seems like a pain to take down and clean constantly.
