How does fish tuberculosis transfer between fish. Can it be transferred by a larger fish eating an infected fish? Or an infected fish brushing against one that's not? I'm asking this because I picked up some feeders for my acestrorhynchus falcirostris (still working on getting on pellets) and there was one that may have been infected which I took out and euthenized once I noticed this.
Sounds like a deformity to me. Quarantine all the feeders and treat with praziquantel (for flukes). You can always euthanize suspected carriers (of bacterial and viral infections). Better safe than sorry. I'd rather you breed your own feeders. TB is unavoidable if you choose to shop your feeders from other sources.
I'm working on setting up a feeder breeding tank, I just didn't expect the ace to take so long to break of live fish, I expected it to atleast be on frozen silversides by now.
What about other frozen stuff such as bloodworms until you have your own feeders ready? I'd rather spend a bit for the stuff he wants than risk treating him in the end which is a PITA for both you and your fish, not to mention wasting too much money on meds alone.
Don't forget the garlic juice if you can't coax the fish to eat on one type of food.
The main problem is that he won't just strike at food, he'll follow it for like 10 mins and then grab it so by the time he notices it it's already on the ground and is ignored.
