A feeder goldfish I've been keeping for the past few months all of a sudden lost its colour 2 weeks ago. From a deep reddish-orange to all albino-white.

Is this...normal...?

Some Goldfish tend to change their colors throughout their life. I had a red and white feeder that turned all white and I've also had a Panda Telescope that turned red on me.

Do other fish do this too?
and what causes it?

It's mainly a goldfish thing. Exposing your fish to direct sunlight will give it a tan and may turn it back to being gold. No joke :D

i bought 5 feeders for my eel a while back long since, my eel died :( but i kept the feeders and became attatched haha. soo i had those 5 and one of those guys was silver with a little black on his nose.. long story short i was gone a while and had my mom feed my fish, i got back and thought he died because he was no where to be found.. yea he was there the whole time, i never counted my fish to see they were all there cuz they never came out all at once when i fed them. he changed his color only him though now hes orange hes a wacko :)

Put any goldfish in an environment with no light. It will turn white.

fish react to substrate color, amount of light, stress, water quality, etc by changing color

so i guess it's a bad thing that they changed colour.
is it possible to do it with an arowana :0
