Hey guys, been a awhile since i have posted much. Anyways here is an update on my fish. Mainly my Carpintis. Not escondido. It is about 5" and is starting to get its adult coloration it has definate blue corotaion on the gill plate and starting to get brighter on the body. It shows much more when the flash isnt on, but my camrea isnt fast enough to get a sharp picture without the flash. I also have a male JD close to 9" now, a Female GT about 5.5" and a pink tailed chalceus, but its not a cichlid. However an awesome fish anyways, like a fresh water barracuda.... kind of.

I have a few Questions as well.

1) I was wondering what other people thought about my Carpinits, M or F. I believe it to be a female but have always had a looming question mark as to what sex it really is.

2) I was at the store today and was wondering what the difference between "Cichlid Gold" and "Cichlid BIO Gold" is? It is twice the price and is it really worth it?

1. I don't know but that is a nice escondido.
2. The bio-gold is worth it. But if you are buying it at petsmart then use the internet pricing at the store. It is only 8.49 for the 8.8 oz bag then.

looks like a cyno not a carpintis

the pic washes it out drastically, its on flash. I am pretty sure its a carpintis. However its not an escondido which has the larger spots and the worming on the face. There are 3 types Cyano(reg tex), carpintis( green tex, blue tex) and carpinits escondido, which has the vibrant blue with worming on face.

I've been researching Escondido vs regular Carpintis like crazy recently, I used to have a Cyano but gave him away. I want an Escondido sooo bad ( I've hopefully located one). In my limited experience it's my opinion your fish is a Cyano because of the small spots and the lack of worming on its face. From what I've seen Carpinitis & Escondido both have worming. Course I don't have hands-on experience with the 2 so my opinion is just that-an opinion. Hopefully some 'real' experts will jump on, if I'm wrong I'd like to hear their thoughts.
Edit: Oh yea-I'd say male. But then again I'd love to hear what the actual experts think.
