fish vitamin or human vitamin...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Human consumption products are based on the anatomical man. That's 5' 7" and 150lbs. Feeding adult vitamins to 6oz or 1lb fish is not only a waste of vitamins (excess is excreted) it can cause hepatic dysfunctions (liver), neurological disorders, etc.
Years ago, hobbyists used to dose their tanks with childrens vitamins. It was later discovered that most of the vitamins were wasted on the bacteria inhabiting the system and that the vitamins needed to be directly added to foods ingested by the fish to be of use. Again, though, excess vitamins, from children's supplements can harm fish.
Today, with the latest research in fish physiologies and nutritional requirements, why try to reinvent the wheel? Use the fish-specific vitamins and supplements that are now available.

hmm interesting i used human vitamins all natural with no iron added to my fish food it helped cure hith and lateral line erosion with it also had some intense colors come out on my fish.

what kind you use?

Flintstone kids?? Hahaha If you ground them up and added a pinch a day, I can't see a proble m with that.

i know that the ingredients for this like penicillin and Emycin etc that we buy as fish meds are the same ingredients that a formulated for humans... how ever they are made at a much weaker dose for fish..i would defiantly go with oddball on this one

My mainstay is Boyd's Vita-Chem, I add a few drops to my O's food every other day or so, everything gets dosed if he dings himself or somesuch.
