I was slightly electrocuted when trying to fix one of my powerheads in the tank.. Apparently there was leakage somewhere..
The weird thing is the fish in the tank doesn't seem to show any lethargy or signs of electrocution.. which brings me to the next question, if fish aren't effected by electric currents then how does an electric eel hunt?

I realized that I wrote "effected" instead of affected.. Sorry for the spelling mistake..
Back to the question, I've never really understood the meaning of grounded.. Let's say I'm sitting on my bed and I touch the faulty powerhead in the water.. Will I be shocked?

Possibly, If you touch it just right the electricity will travel through your fingers to complete the circuit. When you are grounded to something it travels through your body to complete the circuit. Check this site out. It was kinda interesting and easy to understand...

oops I gave the wrong link... This one is right.

Electric fish send off weak pulses to navigate, but typically they grab their prey, and then shock it.

This is happening a lot lately, why are so many of us fishkeepers jumping in after our fallen light fixtures

lolol....Reaction .... saveeeeee the hundreds of dollars worth of fishhhh.....ow...ow...ow...ouch.. dat hurt....

They arent affected b/c they are not grounded. Electricity needs to ground its self to do any harm. This is why you felt the effects and the fish do not. As far as the electric Eel goes, thats a good question. I will have to look into that further.

thats correct
