My Kelberi started taking pellets since last week. Until then it has been totally on shrimp (for more than 1 year).
Since taking pellets (Hikari Cichlid Gold) I see lot of fish waste (this is poop, not left over pellets) on the sand bottom of the tank. But when it was on shrimp I didn't see any waste at all.

Is this normal? Has anybody seen the same thing?

Live food is mostly composed of water and not as solid dense as pellets. Plus, live food tends to be digested into natural color, so wastes tends to not be as visible as those of pellets

Shrimp is not live food if you peel and feed only the meat. Most feeder live food produce more poops than pellets as scales, shells and bones are not digestible. Shrimp meat is all protein with little undigestible residues
