fish with no scales on its face.

so i have this friend who says her fish is weird. she said one day the fish just started losing scales on its face. I'm not sure if it scraped it off or it just started doing it on its own. Its a marine fish like a wrass or birtch or something.

She took a cell phone picture and the fish looks pink in the face litteraly.

I'll ask her for more details again but i thought i'd start the inquiry now.

anyone know what the problem may be?

How old is it? Ive seen some old fish 10+ that are missing a lot of scales.
