I just got my 240 up and running about a month ago. I moved a 15 inch and 12 inch common pleco in it from a 46 gallon. It has a sand bottom. The plecos are not getting enough to eat. There stomachs are starting to look caved in. I have always fed the algae wafers. But now with the new fish in it they eat all the wafers befor the hit the bottom. Even If i have just fed them. I dont think there is enough algae being produced in the tank. but there was plenty in the 46 gallon for them? I have 4 48 inch 6700k bulbs on the tank right now and they are on 8-12 hours a day. I have tried to feed these guys squash, zucchini, cucumbers, peas, ect. They wont eat any of it. what should i do Also There is a large piece of driftwood in the tank for them too. Here are some pics of the plecos and tank.

Try to drop the algae wafers in after the lights go off. Tank looks great.

well your placo really needs algea but sence its a new tank there is no algea for the placo. you could always go to a creek if you have one neer you house or some body of water and get an algea covered rock but the problem with that is it dirtys up the water and it risks the fish with a diese.
this happond to me one time to and i tryed everything to get it to eat something but it was impossible to get them to eat anything, but then i put an algea covered rock and gently washed it off and my placos ate it and were fine

I just took a algea covered rock out of my 46 gallon and put it in the big tank. Hope that helps and ill try to feed the wafers at night.
