Well I'm going to the in-laws condo this weekend for Easter with the wife and kid. I am not much of a beach person. So i thought i would give fishing a try out there. Whether it be on the beach or in the State Park. Just wondering if either is worth it. And if anyone has any tips or advice, that would be much appreciated.

Ive done surf fishing at dusk/night with shrimp and had luck with catfish and other random ocean fishes. The pier isnt bad either, usually will catch stuff off of there. Went exploring one time and caught a bunch of little misc fish on some back lagoon.

Go to emeraldcoastpierfishing.com they will tell you everything you need to know.

My friend goes to gulf shores a couple times a year. His dad, uncles, and grandpa always go fishing on the beach off docks etc.

They catch some decent stuff, including a shark once.

Who knows how the oil spill has affected that however.

Went to the new pier today, and it seemed that plenty of people are catching some kind mackeral, decent sizes to. Mostly the between 3-4' range.
