Hey all
I was planning on coming down for a week or two in December to avoid the Canadian winter for a bit and I would like to go fishing in Florida specifically for peacock bass or other exotic species. I would be staying in the new smyrna beach area but could travel south if thats where they are. COuld you also give me some tips on how to catch them? And are you allowed to fish in most canals down there or what?
Thanks

Youre going to be about 4-6 hour drive too far north to get to cichla and the better exotics. Just remember that private property is private, you can not be on it with out permission. This includes homes and businesses. Also dont forget to get a freshwater fishing liscence.

The New Smyrna and Daytona areas have lots of places to go fishing. You can go surf fishing from the beaches and many of the bridges and parks along the Halafax River and Intercoastal allow fishing. Stop in at the closest bait shop and ask where you can fish. They'll give you tons of places within walking/driving distance.

I found some bones in the bottom of my SW tank this morning. Does that count?
:D

Yes, we have bonefish on the east coast (not sure about the west coast).
