Went fishing on Monday at a place I haven't been before. I'm about an hours drive from here and is part of the Montezuma wetlands complex. Very diverse in the number of fish species. Plan on going again this Friday and many times after that.
Here is the place, it's called May's Point.
White Perch
Freshwater Drum
Green sunfish, who I decided to keep. We caught a few of these but I only kept one. He has started eating already.
The strangest catch of the day, I caught this "monster" on a medium-action rod with 15 lb test line and a massive hook. The only reason I noticed he was on there was because the line was moving across the water.
It's a logperch!!! Needless to say, I kept him.
These are not the only fish we caught. We also got some pumpkinseed, bluegill, smallmouth bass and brown bullhead. In this body of water there are also bowfin, longnose gar, walleye, LMB, carp and channel catfish among others. This place is going to be my new favorite fishing spot without a doubt.
