Hey guys!

I've always dreamed of going fishing for a few snakeheads, and having them sent home.

I know they do it in the malawi, where you fish for a week, and can add a fee to have what you fished sent to your home after you get there (they keep em in quarantine to have them sent after you arrive).

Is such a thing possible?

Google doesn't seem to be my friend on this one. ;O

I'm sure it's possible , every country is likly going to have different regulations in that sorta thing. I would love to do it myself but suspect it would be a costly adventure!

It probably would be, but not much more than travelling in the first place, Channas don't live in tourist places. :P

if I find something i'll let you know. ;)

Perhaps our asian friends can chime in? :D

Unfortunately the traveling costs alone out it out of my reach for the time being but a man can dream lol

So if you could where would u want to go to collect? & what would you be after?

Probably the brahmaputra as a second trip, but anywhere where I could catch the big ones.

Singapore seems to have quite a few of the monsters, and I would assume shipping would be easier from there too.

I'm not quite sure just yet.

I'd also like to do the same with south america, more precisely around Rio orinoco.
Could get my own cichlas (Orinos are by far the most beautiful), wolves, myleuses (never have too many dithers!), boulangerellas, and quite a few more.

If i recall correctly, a man named Palle went to Thailand several times to collect channa. He ended up finding channa sp fire and ice in the local fish markets, and he also found several varities of limbata which he brough back home. One of the limbata is a pretty famous species he named as TH3/02.

Palle didnt bring the th3/02, it was Wolfgang Harz who collected them at Krabi.
But Palle brought other limbata from his trip ;-)
Quite a number of german (and other nationalities) Aquarium enthousiasts travel to Thailand or Vietnam do collect fish and bring them home. Some give their fish to local Aquarium fish wholesalers and let thnem ship them to ttheir home,. others collect small fish or juveniles and bring them in
