Fishing Virginia beach in August

Going to Virginia in August 16-20 wondering how the fishing is there? I have a 6ft ugly stick with 50lb test would it even fair down there? My kids poles are a bit smaller but I wouldn't mind getting a day of fishing in can you rent poles from the pier ? Or would my poles be ok?
