Is it normal for your tank to get cloudy around the 8th or 9th day of the cycle? right now I'm on day 13 and my Nitrite is 5.0 and nitrate 80 it's been this way for the past 3-4 days and it isn't going down as fast as it has when I fist started the cycle. What causes this?

Yes, that's normal. The cloudiness is from the bacteria growing. It means the cycle is working, and it should fade in a few days.

Do you have fish in the tank?

How are you cycling this tank?

As long as their isn't any fish in the tank you should be fine.

Just follow the instructions for the products you are using.

The nitrate level seems very high and may inhibit the process though I have not used those products personally.

How big is your tank?
When you seeing Nitrite go back to 0ppm then dose your tank to 2~4 ppm Ammonia and take note to see how long its take to process ammo back to 0ppm and do the same for Nitrite, after that you should do 90% or 100% WC and you ready to add live stock to your tank.
*if you tank proper cycled it should not take longer 24 hours to process 2~4 ppm ammonia to zero.

Yes I'm new to this fishless process and was wondering if maybe I stunned the tank and killed off the bacteria. It's says on the directions dose the tank when nitrites and nitrates are below 1ppm and I haven't been able to do so because they won't go down.
