I'm about to do my first flishless cycle, I'm just waiting on my test kit.
Can anyone give me a guide they've had success with?
Also, how should I record my results?
Should I post them on the forum?
It's a 110 US gallon tank.
I have ammonia ready and my filter all set up.

Sorry if I sound a little bit clueless, I'm new to fish keeping. :)

Fishless cycling is an excellent choice. The following link is an easy read and the "alternative" method listed is foolproof. http://malawicichlids.com/mw01017.htm
Make certain you have the right kind of ammonia.
I cycled my 240 in roughly 23 days w/o old filter media, however Bud is right used filter media should speed it up.
You absolutely should record Ammonia,Nitrite and Nitrate daily and at the same time of day just before adding the daily dose. Record and share your results with the group.
Do yourself a favor, don't rush it and follow the formulae.

Fishless cycling is the way to go. Sure you could buy some hardy fish, but why make them suffer in toxic conditions. I have cycled each of my tanks without fish. Some used filter media is easier, but you could also use gravel from an established tank as well. You do run a slight risk of introducing disease though if it not from a "clean" system. You can also use just plain old flake food, adding a pinch or so a day. As the food begins to decompose, bacteria will begin to break down the ammonia and then the nitrites. I've done this in the past for about a week to a week and a half, prior to introducing fish, with no ammonia spike after the fish were added. Bacteria supps can help as well, but the older they are, the less bacteria are held in that dormant state. Bio-spira works great for a small tank, but is a little expensive for a larger one. I'd just stick with the flake food method.
Good luck.
