Has anyone's fish encounter this problem?
I have two different fish that were being harrassed by other fish which resulted in torn fins.. but that was few months ago..
After two to three months, the fins are patched up but the outline of the fins are jagged as if a portion of their fins is missing (each fish is in its own solitary space now)
The water parameters are fine just so you know..

I have a convict like this. He used to pick fights with my nasty cuban and got his fins torn on a regular basis. Even after I got rid of the cuban and no one bothers him his fins have healed up but the edges are still tattered. They have been this way for almost a year now...

This happens when fish are older I believe. Before adulthood, fish grow quicker, and fins seem to heal more completely. Once they reach maturity, the fins seem to not heal perfectly anymore. I dont know the science behind this, but this has been my observation over time. I have older fish with messed up fins, and the young ones always heal.

I bought my hartwegi with a missing chunk on it tail and its still missing. i think gone for good. a also got a baby ebjd that has missing pelvic fins. didnt notice when i got him, they have yet to grow back.

Do you guys ever thought of/tried cutting little bits of the fins hoping they would grow back?
Nope, I just tell everyone that asks why his fins are torn that he is the bouncer in my tank
