I did it: I bought my first ever fish tank (well actually my parents bought it for me as a birthday present!!). It is a black Juwel Rio 125. I was going to start a blog but was so eager to set it up that I did not take any pictures along the way.
As the title of this thread suggests, I am trying to set up a small biotope for a pair of small Central American cichlids (I haven't decided which ones yet but probably Herotilapia multispinosa or some kind of Cryptoheros).
What I have done so far:
- Stuck some black vinyl to the back and one side
- Started to aquascape (sand, big stones, cobbles, pebbles)
- Filled the tank with dechlorinated water
What needs to be done:
- Fishless cycle (first dose of ammonium chloride to be added tonight)
- Add some driftwood when it turns up (bought from eBay)
- Decide on the fish I am going to put in there!!
Hopefully pictures should follow shortly when the aquascape is finished.
