fitler socks

Hey guys, Iam looking for some filter socks with strings on them so i can tie it around my filter intake so i do not suck up any babies in the tank. I know someone here posted a sight to buy them but i cant seem to find it again. If you guys could help me out that would be great of have any other ideas to cover my intake it would be appreciated. Thanks.

cheapest fix go to the dollar store buy some nylon knee highs and some zip ties and you are set...

total cost $2

Hey thanks for the advice. Ill look into it. I have some breeding convicts and my dad wants to save the fry and siphon them into a smaller tank so they can grow.

I have found that although the nylons will prevent the fry from being sucked up, the suction is still strong enough to "pin" them to the intake where they will perish.
I have used foam prefilters (http://www.bigalsonline.ca/BigAlsCA/ctl3664/cp17998/si1316823/cl0/aquariumsystemsmaxijetprefiltersponge) to cover AC70/AC110 intakes, they will make the suction more diffused and will not draw fry in....

You know I was reading about these things for a long time now on this forum but I never went looking for them.

Turns out that of the 3 stores in my town that sell fish , only one had them type of filter socks in stock.

Im not sure what they are actually sold for....

u can use felt which can be had at any fabric store for 2 bucks a yard but u gotta have a sewing machine
