Dont know if this is the right place to post this but........here we go!

I can get a really nice Jebo 150 Gallon for $100.. However, it has a major top till bottom crack in it. Something hit the built in overflow pipe on the back and cracked the glass around it. This is a $1500+ aquarium with really neat rounded all glass edges at the front so i'd say definatly worth repairing.

I am thinking of getting a sheet of 1/2" acrylic the same size as the glass back and silconing that to the back of the aquarium from the inside. That should relief the pressure of the cracks, make it water tight and reinforce it..

I would love to hear experiences and opinions.... am i an idiot or really smart?

I dont think that it will work. Silicone doesnt stick to acrylic. A better way would be to replace the piece of glass. also if the acrylic is resting against the glass it will just transfer the pressure to the glass. If you do try it i would for sure do it in a safe place that you dont care to get wet.

If I were you I would find a shop that builds aquriums and have them just replace the glass should still be a cheap tank. Do you know if there are any close to you or are we just lucky having one close by. It would be a shame to do this yourself then loose the tank and a bunch of fish.

Just have a piece of glass cut to cover the crack and silicone it on the inside I had the same problem with a 180 top to bottom crack in the back of the tank (6') so replacing it was not in the bidet at the time I just used a 2'x2'x1/2" piece of glass but before I did thus I scraped the entire tank so I could reseal the whole thing with the patch panel in place has held water for a few years now with no leaks or bows

I have a 210 that had a crack in the bottom corner going all the way to the edge. All i did was add a piece to the corner covering the crack plus some. As long as the crack can not go any further then you can do it this way. And when you do just silicone the edges not the entire piece on.

why not just got to a glass shop and have them cut you a new sheet of glass. it'll probably be a few bucks a square foot so you'll probably pay abotu $100 to have it replaced and just replace that sheet

I would buy a reptile for it....
