heres my problem...

i just bought a used 100gl acrylic tank. the seam going across the bottom connecting the bottom of the tank and the front of the tank is leaking water. its not cracked and there are no visual problems with the tank.

should i bond a long thin peice of acrylic across the front on the bottom of the tank or can i just run a bead of acrylic sealer across the seam and hope that it closes the holes?

thanks

I have the same issue.

I don't want to do this myself. Initially I was thinking it would be no sweat but now I want a pro to do it for me.

so turn the tank so the front is facing upwards, put the sealer on the seam and then clamp it...or clamp it then put the sealer on it?

to find the leak what i did was put a small amount of water in the tank just enough to so you can see it from the side. then what i did was use a shop vac and sucked the water out. if you hold the vac tube just in the corner and look at the glue seam you will see the water get sucked out. then I did the same thing with the glue but back wards. I put the glue in a sandwich bag to mix it. then I cut the corner and used it like a chalking gun and filled up the inside edge really good and had the tank leaning back a bit. then i took the vacuum and sucked the glue from the inside out to fill the gap between the to pieces. it worked and i haven't had a leak yet. the tank i was gluing was 1" thick acrylic..
