fixing cracked acrylic?

Well here's the deal, I found a tank on craigslist, it is a 110 gallon clarity plus acrylic with pine stand and canopy. It has an overflow in it, but the seller says their is a crack in the corner, buck it can be easily fixed. Was wondering if that is possible or not, or if it would be smart to buy. He wants 100 bucks which is a steal to me and the stand and canopy are worth that alone. I am waiting on pictures of the crack right now but has anyone had experience with this? HELP!:nilly:

you will need to get weld on 16 at a local acryliac shop, it will seal it, it's at the very top corner not even a inch down, easy fix ,other then that does not leak.


So whats the verdict, I told him ill take it but I want to run it by you guys first, would this method work that he is saying or is he just trying to get of something thats not fixable.
 
I fixed a crack on my 200g Acrylic tank, it was on the bottom pane. I put a piece of Acrylic over it and sealed it with WeldOn. It worked fine.

I have another small crack at the top of my 110g Clarity Plus (Irony, haha) but it's above the water line because of the over flows so it's fine as is. It happened when I dropped the hood and the tank was full. Acrylic is way more forgiving than glass. Dropping the huge hood on a glass tank would have shattered it.
 
sounds like it should be easy enough to fix, weld on 16 is easy too work with, depending on size and location you may want an overlay. Or don't use overflow and don't fill it that high if it in only 1 inch.
 
Thanks for the tips, I do not know what I am going to do yet, the guy will not commit to the sale, and I need him to because I need to set up a friend with a truck to go get it. He wants me to make a deposit!!:screwy: So we will see but thanks for the input , anyone else have any ideas or experience?
 
dude drop the deposit and secure the tank before someone else does
 
I know man I want to 100 bucks is a steal but I have to work midnights tonight so I have no time he is an hour away. I told him that I would buy it tomorrow morning and he still cannot commit but I hope to get it tomorrow
