FL residents please sign this petition.
FWC will be holding a meeting on May 10th and 11th that very might be the end of the aquarium trade in Florida as we know it. We think this ruling has a very good chance of shutting down most pet stores in Florida to the tune of tens of thousands of jobs and overall 800M dollars cost to our economy of what could be dealt with simply by," removing animals that could cause harm to our Florida ecosystem. We are asking everyone to follow the link below and do 3 things:
1. Read the petition page and be brought up to speed on what is happening.
2. Sign the petition towards the bottom right.
3. Submit public comments asking the commissioners to vote NO on any white list. Talking points are on the petition page.

aussieman57 aussieman57 Have you consider reaching out to some of the pet tubers on YouTube?
There’s probably more fish and pet guys from Florida on there than anywhere.

Actually did FB first to reach as many pet keepers as possible. Other people have done YouTube. We are just trying to reach as many people as possible. They are also going after the reptile industry. Gov't intervention is laughable at best. They are so far removed from reality. If they wanted to prevent invasives here they are 50 years too late to the party. Not to mention that they have introduced invasives here on purpose which created damage. Army Corps of engineers brought in Maleleuca trees to the glades to increase "biomass". They are an ugly invasive tree that has gone wild done here and overtakes hardwoods and pines. Their leaves change the pH of the soil to get rid of other trees. Then they intro'd Blue Tilapia to help eat vegetation in canals. After the fact discovered that they had little or no impact on aquatic vegetation but are great at preventing largemouth bass from nesting as they force them off their nests. Canals are full of them here in SW FL. Clueless gov't bureaucrats that will only succeed in putting thousands out of work and destroying the pet industry.

Thank you for this. I'll read up. I hear about such things every now and then over many years. The government officials are persistent, it seems, and sooner or later they hope to succeed. They will keep making new such propositions after each failed one. I don't think petitions would stop them. Maybe "occupy FWC" by thousands of freedom-deprived and job-deprived people might. Or maybe there is no other way to try to preserve what's left of FL native nature?

I know their actions may look strange on the outside but I doubt they are always in the wrong, perhaps sometimes, or might be even often, but can't be always...

We got a whitelist here and its s**t. Blacklists are best imo. Keep the nasties out but allow you to keep stuff. Bichirs are legal to own here but not whitelisted so we have a like three species and they're all $$$ I paid $200 bucks for my sen.

Also anyone in FL doing anything bout the holy thursday massacres? I'm a reptile guy at heart and people are talking about it all the way down here. Florida fish and wildlife seem to be in hot water at the moment. Tryna please PETA by doing their bidding to make up for their stuff up.
