Does anyone else have problems with flag fish and live plants? Mine keep chewing them up and ripping them out of the gravel. Microsword and baby tears seem to be their favorite target. I know they like plant material, but I was hoping they would leave my plants alone. I probably sound stupid asking about this, but if they won't leave my plants alone, they may have to go some place else!!

I have always heard that flag fish eat algae, but not plants. They will however eat algae off of plants, possibly disturbing them.

I've watched them pick the algae off the wisteria in the tank, but the micro swords look like they have been mowed like a lawn and I see pieces of plants floating at the top. I give them algae wafers and flake food twice a day, so I don't know why they feel the need to attack the plants. They only seem to do it during the day when I am at work.

No crayfish, but I do have 2 females and a male.I don't think they are clearing a spot, because the microsword they are ripping up is planted in different places in the tank. Some of the floating plant material is from the wisteria, so it looks like they are chewing pieces off the plants.
