Hi everyone, I'm fairly new here to this forum and after reading up a bunch I've found that this site has been the most helpful so far for me in the hobby. So a few months ago, I had purchased a flagtail from my lfs (I'm unsure on what species it is) and for the first month, he was quite active and personable as ever. Now recently over the last week, I've noticed he spends a lot of his time sulking in the corner of the tank in my jungle Val, just staring at the corner. Anyone have any idea as to why he is doing this? Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! Sorry I can't initially offer an explanation regarding your Flagtail's changed behavior, but I would ask you if there have been any environmental changes since the different behavior? Did you add/take away any other tank mates? Any change in water parameters, lighting, temperature, etc? Just trying to start the process of elimination, then maybe we can narrow down the possible causes.

The tank has been pretty stable as of late. No changes to tank mates, or lighting or temperature. Almost no dectable ammonia or nitrite in the water. Only a small amount of nitrates (it is a planted aquarium though). Especially no drastic changes since his behaviour has started to change.

Welcome aboard

What are the tankmates?

He's got a spotted leaf fish (who's about the same size as him, roughly 4" long, and seems to be pretty good buddy's with now) 2 pictus catfish who are both about 3" long now, a young 4" Ornate Bichir, a school of Blind Cave tetras and a few plecos. This is also a 230 gallon setup.
