Well, considering they are usually called Flagtailed Prochilodus, that's what I call them. They can't just be 'flagtail' because there are many fish called 'flagtail'. They can't just be 'prochilodus' because there are plenty of other 'prochilodus' around, too.

If somebody starts calling 'Oscars' a name like 'Ling-ling-ching-chong-ding-dong', I'm still calling them Oscars.

Flagtail pro;lkaj;slkdjf for whatever reason the pronunciation always eludes me when I'm trying to ask the fish store guy on the availability.

my girlfriend calls mine, ''Kissy the fishy''....:grinno:

i will admit they seem like their always kissing everything.... its interesting behavior..
very true!!!

i decided to stick my finger in the tank randomely and it began kissing/sucking it. it was a pretty weird feeling and im sure the other fish were just like.......:screwy:

I prefer Flagtail Prochilodus, as this common name is closest to its scientific name, and is descriptive as the fish does have a brightly striped tail.

Fei Feng is a common Chinese name, but the fish is from South America not China... can someone tell me how they became known as Fei Feng?

Another common name for the fish is Charming Phoenix... this just sounds stupid.
