Flagtail Fei Feng quesion

I have a plant garden going in my 240gal tank. Thinking about buying 2-4 flagtails or Fei Feng. Are flagtails plant eaters? I use to have 4 red severums in my tank and they destroyed my plants. Had to sell them and spend $100 on plants to make it nice again. I dont want a repeat when I get those flagtails. I read online that flagtails do eat some certain plants but not all, and I hear from my local fish store that flagtails dont eat plants at all only algae. Doea anyone have experience in flagtails and plants??

Have no experience with flagtails, my very limited knowledge of them is that they are algae eaters, but will take vegetables like peas and also graze on plants. They're some great looking fish though! You might get better responses if you post this in the Characins forum.

From what I have read, they are plant eaters. I think that if you keep them well fed they can be maintained in a planted tank. But not without munching and snacking every now and again

Sorry, a plant eater and usually need to be kept solo or in BIG groups, otherwise they kill each other...

I have one with a few plants (Anubias and Giant Moss Balls). And let's just say my plants aren't photo worthy.
