As the title states.........I have some questions.....well i know nothing about them and would like some info.........I googled it, but would like responses from fellow monsterfishkeepers about the species!!............ie...... possible tankmates, tanksize, should i keep 1 or more or them, etc....

oh and my lfs has 3 and 4 inchers for 30$......good deal????? I'll go and get 1 or more tomm if i get a possitive feedback......

thank you......:D :)

They have a tendancy to suck the slime coat on other tankmates. So tankmates should be chosen carefully.

People have tryed keeping them in groups only to find that they killed eachother. I have seen it work before though.

They can get quite large...I have seen a group of 5 all pushing the 12" mark.

They are great algea eaters.

It kinda depends on what your going to keep with them. Something slow moving or sedentary might end up being sucked upon. As as far as how many to keep, I tried keeping 4 of them together once, only to end up with a single specimen. In the wild they school, but I've read these are very large schools, probably more than you cn keep in an aquarium, so I would suggest keeping just one. They are pretty good cleaners, sucking on any surface in the tank, and shouldnt be a problem to feed, as they come to top and accept a variety of foods, but veggie should be their staple.

$30 isn't the worst price, but it all depends on where you live. My theory is If you like the fish, and you see a nice specimen, buy it, even if its a little expensive. ;)

do you think the flagtail would be civil with a large gold sevrum as a tankmate, and i would only be getting 1 flagtail to alleviate civil war between the flags.....:)

Yeah bro their face is so goofy looking in a good way.........it was so hard leaving that store w/o buying it but i had to do my research first................Tankmates????

I had one before...The above poster is right..If they see a fish they dont like, they will start sucking their skin..The fish that was the target was a very large silver dollar..But that flagtail left the other fishes alone..I guess a big silver dollar is a good target..

they are also very slow growing

I have also found that. Mine does not seem to grow much.

Yet I have a few friends that have kept flagtails that grew very fast.
