I bought a Flagtail Prochilodus on Monday from someone who only had him for a few days but decided on going with a Tang tank. I added him to my 180 South American set up. He acclimated fine and none of the other fish bothered him. By the next day he had eaten almost all of the algae in my tank, which was not all that much as it is. Since then I have been trying to feed him everything I have with no luck. The food just floats by his face and he never even looks at it. I have tried giving him two kinds of flake, frozen brine shrimp and blood worms, NLS and Hikari pellets with no luck. I even hung strips of algae and nothing. He is still eating all of the algae on the rocks, driftwood and glass. One of my questions is, can he get by on just eating the algae in the tank? I need ideas from other owners who have Flagtail's on getting them to eat. I do not think he is going to make it on the tank algae alone.

i had a fei feng once that was like yours, his tail was colorless and woould only eat algae! how is the tail of urs? he will eventually eat! where´d u get it? maybe he´s wild caught...

Try cooked peas. Good luck ;)

all good suggestions. I lost my little 2"er a little while ago and have been looking for another one to no avail.

His tail has the black stripes and not colorless. I tried a small algae wafer but it was not wardley. I have not tried peas. I will give that a shot. I am not sure where the person I got him from bought him. He is probably wild caught. I am going to try and find out.
