Flagtail with plants

i was going to buy a flagtail and eventually put the flagtail in my backyard pond with a couple other pond mates but my concern is I have a pond Lilly and papyrus plant in the pond and I have never kept flagtail before will it eat the plants heard they like algae and plants don’t want it to tear up the pond plants also what do I feed a flagtail thanks

You can protect the plants by screening them off in the side of the pond.
Flagtail would likely go for lilies. But doubt they will go for papyrus.

Diet: cooked deshelled peas,pellets, zucchini etc
