Anyone have flagtails? Are they as great taking care of algae as some people say? I know they get up to about 14in and need spirulina flakes or pellets. Anything else i need to know about them? Planning on growing them out in a 125 before considering them in my 450g.

Great algae eaters. I've got one in my qt tank. The whole back wall was covered in algae. He's been in there a week and just about cleaned up that back wall. Also eats pellets and flake. Mine's only about 2.5 - 3" right now.

have you introduced them to other fish yet? If so whats the personality toward other fish?

They are the best algae eater! The ones I had in the past devoured every single trace of Algae I had is gone.
The good thing about them is that they also eat other foods. Once settled in, you'll see them go for pellets and bloodworms and what ever you feed.
BIG WORD OF CAUTION THOUGH: KEEP YOUR TANKS COVERED AT ALL TIME, THESE GUYS WILL JUMP WHEN STARTLED OR JUST THEIR NATURE. IN THE WILD, THEY JUMP WHEN MIGRATING.
MINE ALWAYS JUMPED OUT DURING WATER CHANGES BUT LUCKILY I HAVE BEEN THERE EVERY TIME.
People also complain about them sucking the slime off of other fish such as silver dollars, rays,etc... but I have found if you keep them well fed, you won't have a problem at all.
It is told online that they will kill each other and have to be kept singly.
It depends on the individual fish. I bought 5 at 2-3'', and grew them up to 8'' together no issues other than a few chasing here and there like silverdollars. I lost 2. 1 because I left the lid open on accident and the other one jumped but I caught him with my hands and placed him back in to tank, but he still passed. The 3 that remained all did fine. I kept them all until I had to rehome them. They went together to my friend Mark who has several aquariums and these guys are in a 200 gallon tank now and are about a foot or more.
Need I say, FLAGTAILS ARE ONE OF MY FAVORITE FISH! LOVE THESE GUYS. MY ALL TIME FAV ALGAE EATER.

This is my best fish picture I've ever taken... this was them about 7 years ago.

This guy is by himself. The one I had previously I was growing out in a 55 with Bolivian rams and rummynose and it didn't bother the other fish.

try to get them at about 4 inches or so I had bad luck with the little 2 inchers [would always die on me] Great algae eater I feed mine algae wafer and NLS 1inch pellets . mine is around 4 inches and in an 80 gallon with giant zebras and filament barbs that he will school with very cool fish doesn't bother even very small fish
