I have always really enjoyed their appearance. I have a 125 reef that I plan to house a couple clams and currently has softies as well as LPS and SPS with MANY inverts. I know they say these are generally reef safe but may nip at clams. With clams being more important to me than this fish, I ask what the success rate is in housing flame angels in this type of environment.

I do not personally have any experience with this combo, but I would not risk it. If you want to keep an angel, look into a swallowtail pair or bellus. I know not quite as good looking, but still fish I enjoy.

It can be risky

My flame angle has yet to nip at the brain corals or the clam. But he could start some day. The wife and I keep a close eye on him, so far so good.

Angels are hit and miss, and some grow into their mis behavior.

You can do it, but just be aware that you might have to tear down the tank to get him out when he starts chowing your lps.

you could buy a trap from bigalsonline.com or somewhere else if he gets to that point, I just got one to and gonna see how he/she is doing.
