I believe my pistol shrimp has ick but i know my flame angle has ick and i have been treating the tank for 4 days now with fishvet that is safe with invertebrates. It says on the bottle its coppper and malache free. My bigest probblem is that the pistol shrimp has got ick bad and i really have no clue what to do to help him if this fails to work. My mother sugested a fresh water dip for about two mins for the angle but i cant find any info if this safe for the pistol shrimp. What else can i do for my pistol shimp? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Inverts cannot get ich.

Yeah thats what i thought but he isnt looking good and he is not hiding in his normal spot. Plus he looks like he has been dumped in a sugar bowl. He is out and just staying in one spot not moving much at all. What else do you think it could be?

Yeah the more ive been looking at him i think he is in the processing of molting i just got frantic when he started acting like that when i knew the angle has ick. My sparatic buys will be aclimaded for a few weeks for now on. Its easy to get rid of ick in fresh water but im only six months deep in sailtwater and i got ha kinda scared for a minute there and my mom didnt really know what to do cause she has a predator tank. But thanks for you info

Acclimating fish/inverts should only take about an hour not a few weeks. My shrimp molt every 12 to 14 days and they only do it at night. I have never seen any of them do it.

I ment to say quratine but my verts in my other tank molt around once a month and i didnt even tkink about him moltingeven though almost all of mine have withen a wek of getting them home

I'd read up on the hyposalinity treatment for marine Ick - this stuff just doesn't simpley wash off in 2 min., it takes 6-8 weeks to rid your system.
Also give that Angel plenty of seaweed it' gonna need it.

To properly care for ur tank with ich you must be very proactive. I personally had an issue in a 90g with 30g sump. First, I had to set up a hospital tank. CAtch all of my fish except my inverts. Place them all in the hospital tank. The water in the hospital tank will most likely cycle. Therefore, you are going to have to do some water changes until the water is parametricaly correct. I treated my hospital tank with Cupramine...follow the directions. I had to leave my display tank go fallow (meaning fishless) for atleast 6 weeks.Tthe life cycle of the ich parasite is believed to to be 6-8 weeks. If there is no host for the parasite on live on it will die in that 6-8 week period. Ich will live in the sand, rocks, etc. However, it will not host an invert. Treat the hospital tank for 6 weeks with cupramine or by the prescribed directions and leave the display tank fallow for atleast 6 weeks. That is the the only true way to defeat Ich in a marine environment. You can also try hyposalinity. But you will nedd a refractometer and quite a bit of knowledge. Good Luck!!
