Im setting up a 30 gallon long 36" for my young adult Mdoka flametails. I started with 16 back in august that I bought from a breeder and have gave 4 away to a friend. I still have 12 left. They are in a grow out tank and are now about ready to be sorted. I know I can sex about 4 males and Im pretty sure on about 4 or 5 females. then 4 or 5 im not sure about. My filteration I have a AC30 from one of my established tanks and also 2 sponge filters, one from a establised. I plan on added a small power head this week sometime and then I'll add fish. The only fish I have in there is 2 juvi bristlenose plecos.
Now a couple questions for a 36" long tank should I go 1 male and 4 or 5 females or go 2 males and 6 or 7 females. (which would be about all I have).
One other question. I have one male that is looking very good and is just starting to get his color. He is defiently alpha male. Should I use him as my breeder if I go 1 male.
Id like to go 2 males and about 6 or 7 females but not sure if the tank space would adequate. I know they are one of the smaller and less agressive peacocks. thanks for input.
