how long would i be able to house a florida gar thats 5 inches or less in a 75 gallon? if i can for a year or so what could i put in with it?

you would have to upgrade at sum point so if you aren't planning to do this don't get one...if you are they can go with aros, tinfoils, jd, ck, mid sized to large cats, just to name some from my exp...get the fish at a size not edible for the gar and you should be good...

well i just ordered a f. gar from my lfs a couple days ago what do you think is a good price? im pretty good with the guy and i normally get most fish at cost plus shipping which isnt much

My Florida grew to over 12 " within four months.
They can grow very fast.
Better be prepared to upgrade soon.
Front to back size of the tank shouldt be at least 2 feet. Gar cannot turn very easily because of their hard scaled bodies.
Extremely cool fish, though, with loads of personality.
My wife and I handfeed him since we got him and he's not scared of anything!
I payed 25 Euros for the fish at 8".

mmk thanks and yea im planning on up grading. i just got a job at a fish store so i get some pretty nice discounts

i got some connections with the stores i go to...everything is disconted for me...ex. silver aro $10

yea he said 15 to 20 for a silver for me. thats pretty cheap around here. wish i could get one tho

btw do you think i could house a fahaka puffer with a florida? just curious cause ive always wanted one

no silv aros, tinfoils and jd. i'd not keep with large sized cats either, in my experience. good tankmates for florida are other gar, bichirs, knivves are passable, african aro, other docile large fish
