I have a few of my fish doing the occasional flashing that indicates something is wrong: flashing anywhere from once an hour to once every 5-10 minutes depending on the fish. I do not see any white spots or signs of ich as of yet, and this leads me to assume that it is gill flukes. I also believe this is likely because they are breathing faster/more heavily. Is it gill flukes, and how do I treat whatever it is?

Ich can cause rapid breathing aswell even will no signs of ich. Id turn up heat and add salt. If it does turn out to be gill flukes treat with Prazipro. Temp to 85, add recommended dose of salt for whatever size tank your useing. I personaly try and stay away from meds if possible. Try natural first.

When you notice your fish flashing or not behaving normally, the first thing you should do is a water change. See if that rectifies the problem. If water changes don't help, then you may have to resort to medication.
