Hi all,

This will be about the 5th year or so in a row that I've posted up looking for some flathead catfish, and blue catfish babies or juvenile fish. Seems there's always someone who says they can get it, but I've never had anyone able to follow through with it yet. I might have to visit some of the catfishing site forums to get something here, but they don't really know how to care for fish, just how to catch them and fry them up. lol.

That's why I've always turned to MFK. If you know where to catch the fry of the year of these species and it's legal to do so in your state let me know please. It has been my dream to raise these up to huge hungry adults for a while. If you are close enough for a day drive then I'll pick up I.E. within 8 hrs drive of 59601, helena, mt. If not I would love to try shipping too. Please help out. I know there's others on here interested also. If you know of any hatcheries that produce them please point me in their direction also.

Tnx
Cliff

The only person I've ever seen with flathead babies was Oddballer about 2-3 years ago. We can catch small (5lb) blue cats within a couple hours of my house at Texoma pretty easily but shipping one that size would cost a fortune with it being a 24" fish. If you make it down here for that roadtrip it could be doable to crate one back. As far as baby flatheads...I've never seen a flathead under 15lbs, anywhere. They have flatheads in some of the rivers near here, maybe juveniles with a seign at the right time of year could be attainable

I have caught some smaller flatheads on the white river and big blue river over here as small as 20" and 4 or 5 lbs but I have never seen actual babies either. They must stay deeper. I would be happy to help you fish some out, but definitely couldnt ship something that big.

they would be awesome in a tank though!

just heard some knews about "true Blue" cats floating around ohio from doubledragon...ill try and pick some up..Any other ohioians hear this?

I also have been looking for small flatheads with no success. If you do find some will you drop me a line. I will do so for you as well. Spring should be the best time as the adults move into the shallows for spawning.

funny how we cant find the fish that are local to our own waterways... theres gotta be a hatchery near someone on here. Flatheads can be purchaced to stock ponds so imagine thats the place to look for.

10 lbs and up :nilly: Wonder if they would just sell you a single specimen.
I'm pretty sure they could. I never called them about it.

Bump....

I just sent them a email stating that I was looking for Flats and Blues under 12''. I asked if they did singles and the cost. Will let you know whats up Necro and Kevin.
