hi all...bought back this 2 fellows by end of august 2010...housing 'em in 3 feet tank with others tankmates like irwini...niger & royal crown...
both eating well & doing well...but why growth in difference size if compared with 4" when brought back time...

big flavican 17-2-11.jpg

small flavican 17-2-11.jpg

Lovely. Some fish simply grow at a different rate than siblings, much like any other species.

They are both in very good condition, though the smaller one has its snout just a tad more worn than the larger. Id suggest a larger tank when you have a chance, before they really damage their snouts. Youll see pics of almost all Rousseauxxii kept in captivity with bent snouts from slamming into tank walls.

What size are they now? They are not fast growing cats.

thanks...big cat's size 10'' now & small one just 7''...both cat eat like pig...
d reason housing 'em in small tank is purposely reducing d risk of snout damage due to they skittish character...cant imagine how d slamming impact if house in 6' tank...
meanwhile...is that any way to sexing 'em...

None that I know of...I only know of a couple past the 24" mark. What are you feeding?

ghost shrimps...comets...sometime is bullfrog (once a week)
flavican & triginus is same spec...below 12'' try not to feed seafood...
so...u got any suggestion...

another weird behaviour for this cat is both trailers cant keep long...once d trailers reach certain length like 3''-4''...either one will bite or damage each other...strange...

They need to be housed in a much larger tank like 8'x3'x3' or larger. Your theory on keeping them in a shorter tank to reduce their nose taking damage is a pretty poor idea. These fish require a lot more open space and in a 8' tank they might dart across the tank but they also have a lot more room to slow down before hitting the glass. You are probably stunting their growth at this point in that tank.

Also regarding their streamers, it could be one of the other fish in the tank biting/damaging their streamers or it could be poor water quality causing the streamers to fade.

thanks for ur comment...trent...
housing 'em in a small tank might be a poor idea...but if choosing in between stunting their growth or damage their snout...i've my point of view...
when d time brought back this cat through local importer...total is 12 pcs...me & others member equally got 4 each...they housing 'em in 6' tank or 4' x 8' fibre tank...after 1 week later...they cats died or snout badly damaged...
luckily mine okay because lack of big tank...
regarding d streamers...i'll rid others tankmate away see this thing still can happen or not...thanks;)
