i moved a ray into my new tank from one of my 300gal stock tanks. now in the new tank i have noticed that it's stinger has half of its tissue missing. i think i have read about this with some of those recent horrable bacerial outbreaks. all other rays look fine and other than the stinger issue apears to be fine. do you think this is the beginning of a big problem?

Is this ray in a bare bottom tank? I wouldn't worry yet, just keep a close eye on him. When a couple of my rays got that bacteria, it started on there feet almost like fin rot and small ulcers. Then it I noticed it on the tip of there tail. One ray even got to the point that it started to eat at it's disk. I never noticed anything change with their stingers though. If the ray stops eating and you notice more areas popping up then get worried.

i do believe that this is what happened to my retic so deff keep a close eye on it,I dont know if it is the same for all rays but this hit my retic very quick and he died within 2 to 3 days

thanks i am not too worried at this point however it really makes me wounder what has cuased this never seen anything like this before. anyone else?

Like stated above, keep an eye on it. I move one of my males to a different tank
a while back and notice after the move that the end third or so of the sheath surrounding
the actual stinger had been damaged and missing. Kept an eye on itandnothing ever
developed, the sheath actually repaired itself.
